10 cities of the Earth where it is not necessary to go

On the Earth many the beautiful and interesting places, which many want to visit. But there are places in which it is better not to appear because stay there can be life-threatening. The American ecological fund Blacksmith Institute has made the list of ten such places.



10. Dzerzhinsk, Russia

In 1930 — 1998 in Dzerzhinsk it has been buried more than 200 thousand tons of a chemical waste — including the most dangerous — neurotoxins. Level of pollution of city water, under the available data, in 17 million times exceeds safe level. For today in a city lives about 300 inhabitants. Average life expectancy of 45 years.

9. Kabwe, Zambia

In the beginning of 20 centuries in Kabwe lead and cadmium large supplies have been found out. The large enterprises for processing of these metals have been constructed. And today air pollution level heavy metals four times exceeds admissible norm. The infected people which quantity more than 250 thousand, suffer a sharp poisoning of blood which conducts to frequent vomiting, a diarrhoeia, diseases of kidneys and an atrophy of muscles.

8. La-Oroja, Peru

In this settlement lives all 35 thousand persons. But more than 95 percent of inhabitants are infected by a serious illness connected with the high maintenance of lead in blood. In territory of this settlement the American factories on extraction of such minerals, as lead copper and zinc are located. Here often there are acid rains.

7. Linfyn, China

Linfyn – the centre of the Chinese coal industry. Level of dioxide of sulphur and other harmful particles in air many times over exceeds norm. In a city lives more than 200 thousand the infected people suffering from a pneumonia, a cancer of lungs and a bronchitis.

6. Norilsk, Russia

Norilsk is considered one of the most polluted places in Russia. In a city the world's largest enterprises for processing of heavy metals – copper, lead, nickel, selenium and zinc are located. For today in a city will live about 134 thousand the infected people, suffering respiratory diseases. Since 2001 entrance to a city for foreigners is forbidden.

5. Sukinda, India

Here there are the world's largest chromic mines. The most part of a waste of the enterprises are dumped in water of the rivers and lakes. In a city lives more than two and a half millions persons. Almost 90 percent of the population are subject to cancer diseases.

4. Tyanzhin, China

Тянжинь – industrial centre of China on lead manufacture. This one of the most polluted places of China. Concentration of lead in air and soil here almost in 10 times exceeds admissible norm. The lead maintenance in the grain crops growing in this district, in 24 times exceeds norm.

3. Vapi, India

To territory of this city are concentrated more than 1000 industrial enterprises. Mercury level in ground waters of Vapi almost in 100 times exceeds norm, and air is overflowed by heavy metals. The number of the infected inhabitants of Vapi suffering any by chronic diseases, this year has passed for 70 thousand.

2. Sumgait, Azerbaijan

Sumgait – the centre of the chemical industry of the post-Soviet territory. For today there lives more than 275 thousand the persons infected with heavy metals, an oil waste and other chemical substances. Children here are born with such genetic deviations, as intellectual backwardness and disease of bones.

1. Chernobyl, Ukraine

For today the quantity of the people who have suffered from radiation in this area makes 5.5 million. The nuclear catastrophe which has happened on April, 26th, 1986 when during tests for the Chernobyl atomic power station because of explosion the reactor kernel has fused, has brought a hundred times more radiation, than the nuclear bombs dumped to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
